The Bobcat® skid-steer loader is known the world over for versatility, manoeuvrability and reliability. Bobcat® pioneered the skid-steer concept in 1958 and maintains its industry leadership today with a broad product line and innovative designs. THE SKID-STEER CONCEPT In place of a conventional steering wheel, the operator has two hand levers: by pulling one steering lever backward and pushing the other forward, the wheels counter-rotate and the loader pivots. The loader is designed so the lighter end (such as an empty bucket) skids about the heavier end; when the bucket is loaded, the rear skids about the front. This extreme manoeuvrability allows the skid-steer loader to work in the tightest quarters and greatly improves cycle times over conventional wheeled loaders and tractors. |
